Animal Control Department

Mission Statement

It is the mission of The City Of Sandy Oaks Animal Control to protect public health, safety and welfare while enforcing humane animal treatment of animals and operating within the City Of Sandy Oaks ordinances and county, state and federal regulations. It is also our mission to provide safe, humane shelter for unwanted, stray, abused and impounded animals and to educate the public about responsible animal care, pet ownership and living with wildlife in hopes of reducing the number of unwanted animals in the community.

Enforcement

The largest part of Animal Control Officers' job is enforcement. The City Of Sandy Oaks has a number of ordinances pertaining to animals. Ordinances address dogs at large, transporting animals in open bed trucks, unreasonably noisy/nuisance animals, illegal animals (livestock), and dangerous animals. Animal Control enforces city ordinances as well as county, state, and federal animal-related regulations. See City Ordinance 2022-196 for further information.

Domestic animal to domestic animal will be investigated for violations only. Rabies control authority (animal control officer) has the right to mandate quarantine of any involved animals.

Cruelty Investigations
